ROCCC Coaching Appointment
Date of Event : Sun Jul 16, 2017 3:05PM

Exciting times ahead for the ROCCC’s as we head into A1 for the first time in some 30 years.

Off the back of a great season, we’ve been working behind the scenes and reviewing the way we do things, our structures and our people, to make sure our success continues.

So it’s with great pleasure that we announce Richard Holmes as Coaching Director of the club.

Most of you would already know Richard from his involvement with the club last year. Richard has a wealth of experience in both playing and coaching. He played A1 cricket with distinction at Payneham for over 15 years and also had a successful playing stint at St. Ignatius. Richard coached both junior and senior levels at Payneham and has been involved with Kensington District Cricket Club in junior development roles. He has also coached a number of teams at Rostrevor College with great success.

Richard is highly regarded by the Rostrevor community for his in depth knowledge of cricket and excellent organisation and communication skills. We are confident he will help us transition into A1 smoothly, continue to develop our players and bring new faces into the club. All of which will ensure we have success along the way and continue to enjoy our cricket.

It is fitting that we make mention of Damith Abeyagunawardene, our coach for the past two seasons. His passion for the game and his commitment to our club has been exemplary and he has played an important role in the growth and success that we have achieved in such a short time. Damith had a great season on the field as well and is a key figure in our A grade and the club in general. At this stage, Damith has decided to take a step away from a coaching role, but we look forward to him continuing to contribute with the bat and ball.

We would like to thank Damith for all his efforts over the past two seasons. We also welcome Richard into his new role and look forward to the good times and great cricket ahead.
